The restaurant owner said 'Kagawa is unknown but great place to eat delicious eel at lower price.' They use natural born eels caught in Kagawa, and the Unaju (grilled eel on rice with sauce) is very savory and meaty. You can eat the quality Unaju at lower price than any other restaurants.◎Natural Unagi (Eel) Unaju 3500yen

There are many eel restaurants closely in this area. The best of all I think is Uotake. Its price, meaty ell and savory small are as good as ones of restaurants in Tokyo.

They are particular about using only domestic ells and finish to grill softly. Topped with grated yam and a quail's egg. This is the genuine unatoro-don.

The Hitsumushi is a specialty meal of restaurant 'Takotsubo' at lunch. The exquisite meal is conger and rice steamed in a wooden container called 'Ohitsu' with green onions, laver and wasabi. You can choose conger or eel and I think conger is lighter.

Here is famous as 'Kanazawa Hakkei (Kanazawa's eight scenic places)'. Hirobumi Ito (the first Japanese Prime Minister) had often visited here from his villa, and now, baseball players and celebrities are regular customers. In a box printed ukiyo-e, soft and savory Japanese eel with tasty sauce...saliva fills my mouth at the site!◎Access: 10 minutes walk from Kanazawa-hakkei Station. Open: 11:00-15:00, 16:30-20:30. The rice harvested in Kagawa Prefecture, the eel grown in Kochi Prefecture, and the hydrogen water are used for this specialty Unaju (broiled eel on rice). They broil the skin crispy, and the meet soft, it was very delicious!◎Unajo opened in 2017 near Marugame Castle, and it's spacious restaurant with tables and tatami floor. Unaju 4500 yen.

I watched this restaurant on TV and had wanted to visit since then. I went there on the last day of the year, and there was a line of 50 people even I arrived 30 minutes before the open. I ordered Hitsumabushi of course. The unagi eel had crispy surface and soft inside, which was very delicious! I love it to eat as it is with spice and also with soup to pour on the rice.

▷▶︎︎Ease of access for one person◀◁ ★★★☆☆ The shop has an adult atmosphere! It takes courage to enter the store at first, but when I went inside, there were counter seats, so I was able to spend time alone! It is a shop on the first floor of the building, and when I visited at noon on a weekday, I was immediately guided. Large Hitsumabushi¥3,520

Inside the store, there are artist's works and bonsai, etc., and it's a stylish combination of traditional Japanese techniques and modern elements that I like! The eel is domestically produced and grilled using Bincho charcoal to achieve a crispy skin and fluffy flesh, and the innovative lineup is sure to impress. Overall, you can experience a "new way to eat eel" that is not bound by stereotypes! Please go and try it.
