Shikaribetsu Lake Kotan is an icy village appears only in midwinter on the frozen lake surface. There're bar, open-air bath of ice, and even ice houses! We can enjoy the cold Hokkaido to our hearts' content. You need cars or bus to access here. We stay in the ice house (igloo) in the third pic, and rent sleeping bags and winter outfits, or we can run to the hotel when we're cold. The Milky Way can be seen before dawn in the late February.

Higashimokoto Sibazakura Park has a large hill slope tinged with deep pink and light pink. Sibazakura (moss pink) Festival is hold till May 6. The scenery seen from the top observatory is splendid! You can see the great panoramic view of moss pink.◎Entrance fee: ¥500 Open: 8:00-17:00 During the festival, it'll be crowded on Sundays. Free shuttle bus from extra parking lots is available.

Held in August 13th every year, Kachimai Firework Festival has 20 thousand fireworks with music. They prepare the special observing area near Tokachi Ohashi Bridge, and there're some little known places around it.◎Park cars at the extra parking area, and go to the observing spot by shuttle bus. By the way, I took these pics from the neighboring town to take Tokachi Ohashi Bridge with the fireworks.
