About 50 kinds of flowers are replanted from spring to autumn, and you can enjoy various flowers and scenery over a long period from May to October. Summer is especially recommended as it becomes colorful during the summer.

Kitaichi Hall is a cafe with 167 lamps and retro atmosphere. They light the lamps one by one by hand after they open the cafe every morning. 8:45. It's worth seeing if you get up early. They offer meals as well as coffee and soft cream.

Fukuhara Sanso Lodge's garden is opened to public only during autumn. There're as many as 1000 trees of ruby-red momiji (Japanese maple tree) that are rarely seen in Hokkaido. After the leaves fall, the whole ground becomes like a red carpet. What's more, there're waterfalls and pond in the garden, you can enjoy walking around.◎Autumn leaves are in its best during the first week of October.

Shikaribetsu Lake Kotan is an icy village appears only in midwinter on the frozen lake surface. There're bar, open-air bath of ice, and even ice houses! We can enjoy the cold Hokkaido to our hearts' content. You need cars or bus to access here. We stay in the ice house (igloo) in the third pic, and rent sleeping bags and winter outfits, or we can run to the hotel when we're cold. The Milky Way can be seen before dawn in the late February.

Farm Tomita is one of the best tourist spots in Hokkaido where the summer is shorter than other prefectures in Japan, and has as large as 15 ha flower fields with mainly lavender. Tonta has a line of people who wait to eat the pork rice 'Buta-don'. Good balance of juicy meat and sweet sauce. I don't mind if I have to wait before eat it. They sell also its sauce, so it's happy for us to be able to cook the similar pork rice at home.

Held in August 13th every year, Kachimai Firework Festival has 20 thousand fireworks with music. They prepare the special observing area near Tokachi Ohashi Bridge, and there're some little known places around it.◎Park cars at the extra parking area, and go to the observing spot by shuttle bus. By the way, I took these pics from the neighboring town to take Tokachi Ohashi Bridge with the fireworks.

Their menu is only buta-don. They prepare matsu, take, ume, and hana differing with its amount of pork. Thick cut pork grown in Tokachi, seasoning of fewer sugar and savory small are sooo good! You may have to wait in a line and share a table with others, but it'll be worth eating.

It's about -4°C outside, but when you look at the beautiful illuminations, you forget the cold. It's just so cold that my cheeks and nose are red. It's also used in the commercial for Kirin Gogo-no-Kocha's warm milk tea, which is currently running.

Mt.Hakodate's observatory restaurant Genova offers Hakodate's seafood like squids and specialty, Matsumae-zuke. Also you can enjoy the changing scenery until it gets dark. At the time you finish dinner, the awesome night view spreads in front of you! I was deeply moved and couldn't say anything else.

The private garden is opened through the kind offices of Mishima Family. From the end of May to the early June is the best season to see, the colorful pink moss and yellow canola flowers bloom beautifully in the large garden. There're a few parking lots, please enjoy with good manner.

This garden belongs to a famous gardener Sayuki Ueno who designed 'Wind Garden' as one of the Hokkaido Garden Path. The rainbow-colored bench has just appeared on Shateki Mountain in the site! The lovely flowers and the colorful bench, you can find many instagenic spots here.

We were thrilled with the animals we can see at close range. Don't forget winter clothes because it's still covered with snow partly. The Penguin Walk Show is must-see, which penguins walk very near us! What's more, I love this so lovely soft served ice cream!

An elevated wooden path to Ichi-ko Lake, one of the five lakes of Shiretoko. The 800 meters path seems to stretch beautifully to the sky, and the mountain range of Shiretoko and the Sea of Okhotsk are truly breathtaking scenery! Driving on the National Route 39 toward Abashiri from a roadside station 'meruhen no oka memanbetsu' leads to this scenery. I feel healed by the huge scenery seen only in Hokkaido.

Higashimokoto Sibazakura Park has a large hill slope tinged with deep pink and light pink. Sibazakura (moss pink) Festival is hold till May 6. The scenery seen from the top observatory is splendid! You can see the great panoramic view of moss pink.◎Entrance fee: ￥500 Open: 8:00-17:00 During the festival, it'll be crowded on Sundays. Free shuttle bus from extra parking lots is available.

A spruce tree standing on a hill of Biei is called 'Christmas Tree'. Under the tree, there're potato fields which have flowers in summer and become snowy white hills in winter! You can see the scenery from the road, but be sure not to enter the fields.◎Access: usually by a rental car. Bibaushi Station is the nearest if you use railroad, but I think it's better to use taxi from Biei Station.
