Shrines & Temples With Beautiful Chozuya

Mimo Shrine

3 Reviews

At Mimo Shrine, I feel peace in my mind at the floating hydrangeas on a purification fountain (a water jar by which visitors clean their hands and mouths before prayer). It's nice in this rainy season

Jōnen-ji Temple

2 Reviews

Jōnen-ji Temple is famous for the scene of lotus flowers in pots lined from the entrance. Also, as another fascination, they arrange colorful hydrangeas in the hand-purification fountain in the beginning of Japanese rainy season. Both hydrangeas and lotus flowers make us feel relaxed. Though the parking area is not so enough, it has easy access by public transportation.

Wakeoe Shrine

5 Reviews

I just dropped by Wakeoe Shrine after shopping, but I was fascinated with the beautiful Temizusha (hand- purify fountain) that was seen only in this season. ◎Wakeoe Shrine is popular for the colorful stampbook (Gosyuin: monk write the seals with red ink). You can get a limited stampbook from 6/23-6/30. Please check out Facebook from the official web site.

Nagoya

Wakeoe Shrine

5 Reviews

It is a photogenic shrine in Nagoya. Seasonal flowers are displayed in the Chozuya. Purple flowers are spreading in the water and it is beautiful. Flowers and Japanese umbrellas are displayed in front of the shrine and are colorful. There is also a Japanese umbrella for rent, so you can take a picture with the Japanese umbrella in your hand.

Atsuta Jingu

1 Reviews

One of the three sacred emblems, a sword of Kusanagi is enshrined here in old Atsuta Jingu. Around November, it gets crowded by cute children in their best clothes for Shichigosan (7,5,3years old children's ceremony), and a bride wearing Shiromuku (a white dress for Japanese traditional wedding). I want foreign people to see such a beautiful and traditional sights.

Miwa Shrine

Miwa Shrine is a matchmaking shrine. There are two recommended points for this shrine, the first is the rabbit ema. The second one is flower water. 2023 is the year of the rabbit, so be sure to visit the rabbit shrine as well.

Masumida Shrine

1 Reviews

Ichinomiya is a producing center of fabric. For this Masumida Shrine is a god for fabric, it has a strong relationship with Orihime (a princess who weaves cloth) appears in a legend of Tanabata. In the late July, Masumida Shrine and the town are decorated colorfully for Tanabata Star Festival. You can also enjoy shopping at many festival stalls!◎It's located walkable area from JR Owari Ichinomiya Station, or Meitestu Ichinomiya. Though there're some toll parking areas, public transportation will be better because the traffic is regulated.
