1Ruriko-in Temple

The spring special visiting is opened till 6/15 in 2018. The relaxing room extends here. The table room, which has been a hot topic in SNS, you can see various reflections from different directions. And, it's so gorgeous and beautiful.

A famous place for maple leaves viewing, Ruriko-in Temple has terms of special visiting for a few months in spring and autumn. You can see the beautiful green leaves in spring, and colorful ones in autumn. The reflections on the floor and desk is so wonderful!◎The special visiting of autumn in 2017 is 10/1~12/10 Entrance fee: 2000yen

Anyone can take pictures of beautiful reflections at Ruriko-in Temple. It gets very crowded on weekends, but it has worth visiting once in your life. The bus is available though, the train is better.

2Kinkakuji Temple

After it snows in Kyoto City, shrines and temples of world heritages can change completely. Especially, winter Kinkaku-ji is so beautiful like this pics! Many people from all over the world come to see this golden pavilion, and sometimes there're a line of people for the snowscape worth visiting in spite of a cold weather!◎If the cold wave comes in Kyoto City and the snow clouds comes at the same time, it's a chance to see Kinkakuji in the snow. (I took these pics on snowy day in 2011 and 2017, I decided to visit by the weather forecast two days before.) You need to leave before the snow melts. Bus is available from Kyoto Station. Leave with time to spare on snowy days.

3Nanzen-ji Temple

Nanzen-ji Temple's Suirokaku (waterway architect) is a huge arch structure. It has become renowned recently as a photogenic spot, and many people visit here. I think it's better for you to visit during morning!

4Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

When going through under Sembon Torii, you can feel like to come into the mysterious another world. Here's a great spot you can feel the exotic Japanese atmosphere.

I visited Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine which is a most popular place among people from all over the world. There were many visitors as I thought, and I took pictures to make the most of that crowd. The scene of world's people walking on the god's road was impressive for me.◎Just near Inari Station of JR Nara Station. Or, 5 min walk from Kyoto Station. For Keihan Honsen Line, 5 min walk from Fushimi Inari Station to the east.

5Kifune Shrine

Kifune Shrine changes its appearance in each season. From spring to summer, you can see the lively scenery of fresh green.

Though it's sometimes terribly hot in Kyoto, the sensory temperature becomes cooler when you enter into Kifune Shrine with lush greens. It's located in such a rich nature. Its fortune-telling slip, that the letters appear on the water, is also attractive.

6Eikando Zenrin-ji

Japanese maple tree is called 'momiji'. In Kyoto, Eikando Zenrin-ji Temple is well known for its scarlet 'momiji'. You can have a feeling that impressive red and yellow fill up all of your sight.

The Momiji maple tree dyed in red welcomes us at the entrance gate. There're 3000 maple trees, and the world commanding 360 degrees of autumn colors is so impressive. The reflections of maple leaves and Gokuraku Bridge on the pond is specially beautiful. When you visit here, you must see the light-up, too!


Bamboo Forest is a must-visit place in Arashiyama. Even in summer, you can feel the cool air in the early morning, and have an excellent morning walk.

8Omuro Traditional House

As a traditional Japanese house representative of the early Showa Period, it was designated as a national tangible cultural asset in 2016. And it has opened to public since this summer. I could be refreshed for the tea, sweets and wonderful green reflections even the weather was hot.◎It'll be opened till the end of September, and closed 8/14-8/16.

Omuro Traditional House is opened only during summer. The table glitters so much as to reflect the fresh greens of the garden. And, you can see the another beautiful scenery on the table at a cafe room.◎From July 7th to September 30th in 2018. Closed from August 14th to 16th. Hours: 11:00-16:30 (final entry 16:00)

9Daimonji Mountain (Nyoiga Dake)

We usually look up Mt. Daimonji from the foot. But from the mountain, it commands this amazing view of Kyoto city. We can sit on the wall with legs throw out, and stay this tranquil place for many hours.◎You need to climb the mountain for about 30 min. Climb from the side of Ginkaku-ji Temple.
