1Nanzen-ji Temple

Nanzen-ji Suiro-kaku is a part of Biwa Lake Canal to bring the water to Kyoto from Biwa Lake. The beautiful arched bridges built of bricks considered the temple scenery and were designed in Meiji Era. They bring the water now in active service.

Nanzen-ji Temple's Suirokaku (waterway architect) is a huge arch structure. It has become renowned recently as a photogenic spot, and many people visit here. I think it's better for you to visit during morning!

2Ruriko-in Temple

The spring special visiting is opened till 6/15 in 2018. The relaxing room extends here. The table room, which has been a hot topic in SNS, you can see various reflections from different directions. And, it's so gorgeous and beautiful.

A famous place for maple leaves viewing, Ruriko-in Temple has terms of special visiting for a few months in spring and autumn. You can see the beautiful green leaves in spring, and colorful ones in autumn. The reflections on the floor and desk is so wonderful!◎The special visiting of autumn in 2017 is 10/1~12/10 Entrance fee: 2000yen

3Kifune Shrine

Kifune Shrine changes its appearance in each season. From spring to summer, you can see the lively scenery of fresh green.

Though it's sometimes terribly hot in Kyoto, the sensory temperature becomes cooler when you enter into Kifune Shrine with lush greens. It's located in such a rich nature. Its fortune-telling slip, that the letters appear on the water, is also attractive.

4Kiyomizu-dera Temple

Kiyomizu Temple, an unmissable spot for sightseeing in Kyoto. During the special honor of visiting held three times in a year, the blue light goes through the sky in Kyoto. This light, they says, expresses the mercy of Kwannon.

Kiyomizu Temple has a history more than 1200 years. Obviously, this temple is one of the most famous tourist spots in Kyoto. The wooden huge stage of Kiyomizu is impressive, and, please don't miss the Three Storied Pagoda and Niou Gate in front of the entrance, which are also beautiful.

5Jyonangu Shrine

As for plum blossom in Kyoto, Jyonangu Shrine is famous. The weeping plum blossoms all over the garden and fallen camellia flowers are beautiful, and make us feel spring has come. I feel spring when I visit here.

People will be fascinated with the scenery of weeping plum blossoms and fallen camellia flowers. Nanjōgū wrapped with the sweet smell of plum is breathtakingly beautiful. We can enjoy them not only the time of full-bloom, but also from when the blossoms begin to bloom to when they start to fall.

6Toji Temple

You can go to Toji Temple from the Kyoto station on foot. The fivefold pagoda is highest in Japan and a popular sightseeing spot in Kyoto. Moreover, you can see a Shidare Zakura, a weeping cherry tree in spring. Illuminated cherry blossoms at night are very fantastic.

As for Toji Temple, the scenes of spring and autumn are famous, but I like this early summer scenery with fresh greens. You can enjoy seeing the beautiful garden in this season more leisurely than the peak season, for there're fewer people. What's more, you can see the sunset with fresh greens just before the closing time.

7Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

The Shrine Gates Tunnel is mystic and seems a road to another world. The sightseeing spot is one of the most popular ones in Japan among foreign tourists.

When going through under Sembon Torii, you can feel like to come into the mysterious another world. Here's a great spot you can feel the exotic Japanese atmosphere.

8Enko-ji Temple

Enko-ji Temple has become popular for its autumn colors. The beautiful green garden in summer becomes more beautiful with many colors in autumn. During the term of maple leaves falling, a red carpet will appear around the Jizo♡◎To take picture like a frame, you need to wait the timing people go away. But, the temple's attendant will tell you a good timing, so you can take picture like this!

Enko-ji Temple was a school for development of education by Ieyasu Tokugawa. A wonderful Japanese garden covered with moss, 'Jyu-gyu no niwa' is like a picture by the temple pillars on all sides. The rich nature gives us a moment of relief.

9Shōrin-ji Temple

We cannot always see this flower purification fountain (Chozusha: a place for purification of your hands and mouth before you enter shrines or temples). And the flowers change every season. If you have a good chance to visit, I want you to see it.

Hand-purify fountain is a place where visitors of temples or shrines purify their hands before they enter the sacred site. Then, we can sometime see flowers floating on the fountain. It's beautiful and gorgeous. At Shōrin-ji Temple, we can see it only on weekends till the middle of July.

10Kitano Tenman-gu Shrine

It's one of the sites of Kyo's (Kyoto's) Star Festival, which has been held eight times until this year. The bamboo leaves in the illuminated precinct are fantastic. You can enjoy quiet and cool atmosphere of summer.◎Kyo's Star Fastival is held on the lunar day of star festival. During the festival, various events are carried out at this shrine.

Kitano Tenman-gu Shrine 'Momiji Garden' is well known as a beautiful place of scarlet maple leaves. There're about 350 trees of around 400 years old and the new green sceneries make people feel quiet and refreshed in May.
