Though Togura-ueyamada Onsen has a long history, this is a modern onsen facility. In a spacious building, there're a bakery and many stylish sofas to spend leisurely. Some lessons such as handicraft are held here, it's popular as a relaxing place for the citizens.◎The nearest station is Togura, but it's better to use cars. You can enjoy pasty, mild hot spring good for your skin.

Takasugi-an was designed by an architect Terunobu Fujimori. It's a tea house though, I'm scared to only climb... And another one is 'Flying Mud Boat' and also a tea house. It sways when people climb! They have a atmosphere like Studio Ghibli's movie, and is worth seeing once!

Okaya once had the biggest produce of raw silk in the world. You can learn the history of growing silkworm that had supported Japanese modernization, from the exhibitions of historical records and precious machines in existence. And at Miyasaka Silk Factory, you can see how to spin silk actually, then, the delicacy of raw silk and the high-level skills will make you moved. ◎By car, 5 min from Okaya IC of Nagano Speedway, or 10 min from JR Okaya Station. This castle has a long history since Japanese Heian Era, and now it's a people's oasis with rich nature. You can see the seasonal scenery such as cherry blossom in spring and colored leaves in autumn. Here's also good for castle-loving people for there're some castle features such as stone walls that has a history of Sengoku battles with Takeda Army.◎1 min walk from JR Komore Station. Parking area is available. Entrance fee: adult 300 yen, child 100 yen. The Cherry Blossom Festival is opened till 4/30.

Matsumoto Castle has different appearances in each season. The castle tower is illuminated throughout the year. And a season of cherry blossoms is going to start now. The bright castle tower in the darkest sky, and cherry trees around the moat are so beautiful that you may forget the time.◎Admission for the castle tower: adult ￥610, child ￥300. Access: 15 minutes walk from JR Matsumoto Station. Illumination starts after the cherry trees come into blossom.

There're many cherry trees in Takato Castle Site Park, and you can feel like to be wrapped in the blossoms! This cherry blossoms is named as 'Takato Kohigan Zakura' with small lovely pink blossoms. On this day, it snowed and I could enjoy fantastic scenery of cherry blossoms and snow!◎I went by car. There's parking area, though it's very crowded. Bus is available from Inashi Station or Chino Station, but you need to check the latest information.

Matsushiro Castle was once a residence of Sanada Family. Now, it's been kept as a park and 100 trees of Someiyoshino come into magnificent bloom in April. La Lance Lourd is a cafe located a few minutes from Zenkoji, in a quiet residential area. This classical cafe serves pancake which is fluffy and melt fragilely like dream in my mouth. Their baked cakes are all delicious, specially, the Canelé is superb! We can spend time leisurely in this comfortable cafe.

Located on the top of the hill, this onsen is spacious and quiet. You can feel relaxed with the twitters of birds and mountain view. Also the stone sauna is available.◎Fee: 500 yen. If you use the stone sauna, please bring bathrobe or something.

Sanada Family's Ueda Castle fought off a strong Takeda Army twice in the age of wars (Sengoku period). So this castle is called ' a castle difficult to attack and never fail'. Sanada Shrine is located in such Ueda Castle, and many visitors come to get 'never fail' luck in exam season. At Hakuba Happo Ridge in the early July, you can see the flower fields of alpine plants and mountain reflection on the lake as well as the view of Japan's North Alps slightly covered with snow. If you don't have enough strength, you can enjoy walking on the mountain ridge easily with gondola and lift!◎Parking area is available. From Nagano Station, you can access by express bus. Although sunny days will be the best, you can enjoy watching the small alpine plants wet with dew in the cloudy days.

Kurumayama Highlands is located along Shinshu Venus Line. Climbing beginners can easily access here for the ropeway. Autumn's cold air, beautiful sea of clouds, and mountains of Shinshu area. I want many people to feel the greatness of nature.◎From Suwa IC of Chu'ou Speed way, enter the Venus Line from Route 152. Then, from Saku IC of Joshin'etsu Speed way, toward Shirakaba-ko Lake on Route 142. The lift works every Sunday from 5:00 am till November 5th.

A little-known spot in Karuizawa, where every place is crowded during the fall foliage season. Nagakura Park, which is about a 10-minute walk from Naka-Karuizawa Station, is a spot known only to those in the know, so there are almost no people, so you can enjoy autumn leaves photos to your heart's content.
