Izu is famous for Kawazu-zakura. Because of the warm climate, they blooms early and we enjoy the many kinds of cherry blossoms for a longer time until May. 3 km Namiki Street is now in the peak time of 'Ookan-zakura'. The scarlet flower of aloe, a symbol of Izu, and pale pink cherry blossoms make a unique contrast seen only in spring.

Because of the surrounding mountains, the sound of skyrockets reverberate impressively and the presence is moving. The skyocket named Niagara is well known.

Mothers have entrusted their daughters happiness and good health to a piece of thread and old clothes at Hina-matsuri (girl's festival) that began in Izuinatori. About eleven thousand of Hina (dolls) are hung for two months from the end of January every year.

Hamamatsu Festival held in holidays in May. They fly kites high to celebrate one's first children. At the last day, they battle to cut the strings of kites, and it's very powerful. Fluttering kites in the sky are colorful and very beautiful.
