Gion Tokuya is a popular sweets shop located on Hanamikoji Street in Gion, Kyoto. What I got here was a combination of warabimochi and honkuzumochi. Honkuzumochi is made from high-quality Japanese bracken starch and has a simmering texture. Thanks to the ice, you can keep it cold all the time and use it as shaved ice at the end. Cool sweets perfect for this time of year.

It's enjoyable to roll and grill the rice dumplings on Shichirin clay stove by myself. The lovely rice dumplings are while one and green (yomogi) mugwort one. After it's grilled enough, put the mitarashi (sweet soy sauce) sauce or sweet azuki bean jam on them. The beautiful garden is one of the attractions, too.

I had Dorayaki this time, and that was delicious as I've heard. You can drink tea as much as you want if you eat inside. On holidays, it's get very crowded.

Terakoya Honpo Arashiyama Togetsubashi store on the Arashiyama Togetsubashi side of Kyoto. What I received on this day was a gorgeous dumpling (right), right? Dango (left). The gorgeous dango is an autumn-like combination of chestnuts, purple potatoes, sweet potatoes, and black sesame seeds. An interesting naming mystery? The dango is pistachio chocolate framboise. Taking a picture with Togetsu Bridge in the background gives a good impression of Arashiyama.

Mamemono and Taiyaki on the 1st floor of Arashiyama Shoryuen, Kyoto. The taiyaki taken out here are royal custard and bean paste butter. The taiyaki dough is a whipped meringue dough that is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The characters "ma" and "me" are added to the front and back of the Taiyaki, which has a round shape, further doubling the cuteness. Come along with a break for sightseeing in Arashiyama.

Purchased water Marumochiya at Marumochiya near Fushimi Inari, Kyoto. 1180 yen for 3 pieces. I picked up fallen leaves and acorns near my house to color the autumn. Marumochiya has a smooth texture, and when you put it in your mouth, it melts like water and disappears. It was a delicious Japanese sweet that goes well with black honey and soybean flour.

Shinko' is made from rice flour and steamed in a traditional cooking stove. And its characteristic shape is derived from the winding path to the Atado Shrine. Kazari-kan is the new taste Japanese sweet. Based on a traditional azuki-bean sweet 'yokan', they match excellently with herbs and fruits that seem to be out of keeping with yokan. Sweets with the seasonal foodstuffs of Kyoto such as a winter 'yuzu' citron are all delicious and I think only such a long established shop could make them!

It's well-received as Kyoto souvenir and people always make a line in front of the shop.
