Jodoji Temple

1 Reviews

"Jodoji" in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture is said to have been built by Prince Shotoku and is famous for the benefit of praying for victory. It is also popular as a first visit spot in Hiroshima. And what I would like to recommend most is the view from Jodoji! Since it is on a slope, you can see the Seto Inland Sea and Mukaishima, and it is a superb view.

In the middle of April. The time of cherries in full-bloom, I visited Onomichi for the first time. I took time to look the shrine and then, I took pictures of the cherry blossoms as soon as I found this scene.

You can see various beautiful figures of Itsukushima Shrine by the tidal current because its precinct partly belongs to the sea. Big Torii floating on the sea at high tide is wonderful, but what is more, at low tide, you can walk to it and see the beautiful reflection in the pool.◎The most beautiful reflection can be seen when the Torii is soaked a little bit in the water. You need to look for a pool with no waves.

This is the 7th oldest one among 22 five-storied pagodas that exists now in Japan. The beautiful red lacquered figure is a symbol of Miyajima the same as Torii of Itsukushima Shrine. You can see it from any places for it stands on a hill, so let's find your favorite scene!

Itsukushima Shrine on Iwashi Island in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Iwashi Island is an island next to Mukaishima on the Shimanami Kaido and is connected by a bridge! The torii that stands toward the sea is mysterious as if it were welcoming the god of the sea. It's a little-known spot, so you can spend a relaxing time on the sandy beach while gazing at the spectacular scenery. There is free parking!
