About 50 kinds of flowers are replanted from spring to autumn, and you can enjoy various flowers and scenery over a long period from May to October. These fir trees covered with snow and ice have so strange shapes that they're called 'Ice Monster'! On every around February, you can enjoy snow trees, skiing and walking at the top of the mountains in Zao, Yamagata Pref.◎Access: take bus from Yamagata Station to Zao Onsen Hot Spring Town. Parking lot is available for cars. Take ropeway from Zao Onsen, and you can see the snow trees from the mountain top. By the way, humid coldness is unbearable, you must make doubly sure for winter clothes!
Todowara is a place called 'the end of the world' because of the scenery of dead trees eroded by the sea. The scenery changes with the tide, and specially, the reflections on the calm sea in early morning was so amazing that I associated with the famous Uyuni Salt Lake! In winter, you can enjoy walking on the frozen surface while watching the horizon.

I've visited here two times, this cherry blossom showed me different appearances each year. How many times I meet this tree, its strength and beauty make me surprised. Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms and canola flowers behind Miharu Takizakura are also in their best. I could enjoy this gorgeous scenery very much.◎People need to pay 300 yen during the blossom season just after the next day of blooming. You can have a whole view of Sapporo City as one of Japan's New Three Best Night Views, from the observatory located at an altitude of 307meters of Mt. Okura. The night view from Mt. Moiwa is more famous though, Mt.Okura has an original angle, so I like it!◎The observatory of Mt. Okura is closed by evening, but sometimes they open longer. You need to go up to the top by ski lifts, so don’t forget winter clothes.

Taisetsuzan Mountain Range is famous for the earliest fall foliage in Japan. You can see that autumn mountain scenery easily by rope way. Around Sugatami-no Ike Pond many tourists visit is beautiful, and I found the wonderful fall foliage stretch below when I went a little way further to Susoai-daira Plateau!◎The ropeway had stopped service for a while because of the earthquake in 2018, but it reopened. The parking area is available around the rope way station at the foot of the mountain. The shuttle bus 'Ideyu-go' leaving Asahikawa Station via Asahikawa Airport is also convenient. You should bring telephoto lens to take pictures.
