It's a relatively new shrine built in 1895, but became completely established as a symbol of Kyoto, and many people visit here. When you enter the large precinct, you may feel refreshed and purified.

Shoren-in Monzeki is famous for the fantastic illumination in spring and autumn. At such prestigious temple, a reception room 'Kacho-den' has beautiful fusuma (papered sliding door) with lotus flower drawings by a artist Hideki Kimura. Miraculous fusion of historical temple and modern art is wonderful!◎Except for the crowded season like fall foliage, you can see fusuma and the temple leisurely. Admission fee: 500 yen, illumination time 800yen
