Ōya-ji Temple Enclosed By Horizontal Stone Chamber Ōya-ji Temple
Though pictures are prohibited, Ōya Kan'non is a thousand-armed Kannon carved in in stone. There're 10 Magai-butsu (images of Buddha carved in stone walls) which are oldest in Japan, and all of them are nation's historic sites. It's really surprising that they're carved in the ancient Horizontal Stone Chamber. Admission fees: 400 yen. Access: 25 min by bus from JR Utsunomiya Station, then 1 min walk. By car, 10 min from Utsunomiya IC.
